Industrial Internet Consortium launches supply network test-drive program

The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), a global organization dedicated to accelerating use of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), has launched a new simulation solution for supply network optimization.

The Supply Network Dynamic Simulation Test Drive, developed by Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), a unit of Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), enables supply chain leaders to perform network design and optimization models to evaluate risks and countermeasures before deployment in the real world.

For example, they can identify distribution centres to best serve customers, and verify the savings in transportation and warehouse costs of the new centre. Manufacturers can also experiment with “what-if” scenarios to review the effects of changing inventory policies or sourcing policies in a supply chain.

IIC Test Drives are short-term, rapid-engagement pilots for technology users to employ and adopt IIoT technologies. The IIC Test Drive program fosters collaboration with partners to address leading-edge IIoT use cases in three- to six-month projects based upon technology end users’ real problems.

To consider a test drive pilot deployment, a technology end user may begin by either selecting a test drive proposal from the IIC’s test drive repository or by choosing to engage in an exercise to define a problem and connect with experts to propose solutions.

Test drive proposals are being added to the IIC’s website as they become available. Visitors may review the choices to find a test drive that applies to their needs.
